The best part about your baby no longer being a “baby” is the fact that you don’t have to lug around that ridiculously stuffed 50lb baby bag. I remember ALWAYS feeling as if I was forgetting something even when I packed what seemed to be my entire life in the bag. As Cayden grew older all I could think about was the literal weight off my shoulders. However, the reality of the situation is that carrying a properly packed toddler bag will make your life easier. Soooooooooo much easier. But what do you pack in a “toddler bag” to make your life seem smooth as butter for the long days that you are out with your official “big kid/s”? I’ll tell you!
- Pack an extra outfit. Yes, I know they are official big kids but even big kids don’t make it to the bathroom or spill lunch all over their shirts.
- Juice/water/milk. If you do not take 2-3 drinks with you, you will be annoyed and broke. Your toddler will be screaming about how thirsty they are and you will be stopping to buy drinks that you have FREE (sort of cause you did buy those too) from home.
- Food! Every toddler is picky right? They have special things they like to eat. Pack those. Besides, fast food isn’t healthy and it’s pricey. Especially for something your kid isn’t going to finish anyway. I normally pack a peanut butter/jelly sandwich, a pre-sliced turkey hotdog, and some goldfish.
- Toys. Toys are different since they are older. You may just pack a book and a tablet. Just pack something to occupy them for the difficult moments they may have. The sleepy/i want to go home moments.
Lastly, pack patience. Because we all know that sometimes running errands, going shopping, and family outings overall can make you lose it!
Until next time…
